Venting at Vingt: 21 Things To-Do Before I Turn 21

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, and everyone else in between, The Rebecca Project proudly presents: Venting at Vingt, a three day mini-series focused on turning 20 and what that means to me. Be sure to check out my latest posts here and here.

I’ve always found the day after my birthday to be bittersweet. With the presents all unwrapped and the leftover cake devoured over breakfast, I’m left thinking “Now what?”

I am lucky in the sense that my birthday perfectly coincides with the beginning of the school year, so as I begin my 21st year on this planet, I’m also kicking off my third year at Glendon; and since I love goal setting, list making, and habit tracking more than anything else in the world, I figured I would take this opportunity to look to the future and plan…

21 Things To-Do Before I Turn 21

Veuillez noter: I stole this idea from my friend Amanda who wrote a similar post last year. I highly recommend you check her out and tell her I sent you.

  1. Direct a play
  2. Get my G license
  3. Attend a conference/retreat/workshop that scares me
  4. Post on this blog weekly (fingers crossed)
  5. Finish my bullet journal/start a new one
  6. Take a stand-up comedy class
  7. Get back into the habit of reading for fun
  8. Become one of those people who always has their water bottle on them
  9. Discover a new café
  10. Subscribe to a French podcast (and listen to it!)
  11. Discover a new Toronto theatre company
  12. Stick to a home workout routine for days when I can’t make it to the gym
  13. Learn how to cook something other than lasagna
  14. Take a solo weekend trip
  15. Find a charity that I care about and donate my time/money/both
  16. Go to the art gallery
  17. Start investigating ideas for an undergrad thesis
  18. Write something worth performing (and find a space to stage it)
  19. Prioritize time off (and stop feeling guilty for being unavailable)
  20. Make efforts to hangout with people who make me happy
  21. Master the art of introducing myself to someone new

The idea of being 20 still makes me feel kinda uneasy, but I’m slowly coming to terms with it. My dad has always said: getting older always beats the alternative, and I have to agree with him. So even though I have no clue what my future holds, I’m gonna try my best to enjoy the journey of finding out. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride

À la prochaine,

P.S. I’m thinking of making Venting at Vingt an ongoing series to share all of what my twenties have to offer. Would this interest you? Let me know!
